Description
The On-Call Caregiver provides personal care and companionship services to individuals who need assistance with daily living. This position operates on an as-needed basis, responding to scheduled and emergency shifts with professionalism, compassion, and respect for client preferences and privacy.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care: assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transferring, and mobility support.
- Support activities of daily living (ADLs): help with meal preparation, feeding (if needed), hydration reminders, and light housekeeping related to the client’s care.
- Medication assistance (if permitted): remind clients to take medications and assist with non-clinical tasks according to care plans and applicable laws/policies.
- Companionship & supervision: provide friendly conversation, engage in safe activities, and monitor for changes in condition.
- Communication & documentation: report concerns, document care provided, and communicate updates to family/agency staff as required.
- Follow care plans and safety procedures: follow client-specific instructions, prevent falls, maintain a safe environment, and use proper body mechanics.
- Respect privacy and dignity: treat clients with patience, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
